Wreath Sale

Posted on Nov 23 2024 - 6:29pm

Good evening!  It's the time of year where our troop does our annual wreath sales.  This is the easiest fundraiser you can do.  Go to www.giftitforward.com , pick your item, enter fundraising code TR617FL001 and your scout's name and you are done!  The wreath will be paid for online and shipped directly to you.  When getting friends and family to order, share the website, fundraising code and your scout's name and they will be all set.  No collecting of monies, and no deliveries!  If you have questions, please let me know!  Ms. Sherman

Pop! Pop! Pop! - WRAPPING UP

Posted on Nov 12 2024 - 10:52am

Thanks again to the scouts (and parents) who have sold popcorn so far this season - and to the scouts/scouters who purchased or signed out popcorn at Monday night's meeting!

I have updated the inventory below taking into account all orders placed as of 10:00am 11/12/2024. Two families have popcorn signed out at the moment that they are selling, so I separated the inventory based on where the bags physically are. If you have someone who wants a particular item, we can connect you.

Annual Troop Dues and Recharter Process with Scouting America

Posted on Nov 6 2024 - 10:25am
Dear Scouts, Scouters, and Parents,

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, it is again time for the annual Scouting America recharter.  This will be the first time that everyone is under the new national recharter system, so please read carefully below to understand how this process will work for both Scouts and registered Adult Leaders.

Recharter Fees for 2025

There are essentially three different fees that make up the recharter process - Troop dues, which are determined at the Troop level and remain completely with our Troop, Council Fees, which fund both the Central Florida Council (CFC) and the Narcoossee District, and the Scouting America National Fees, which fund the Area, Region, and National Scouting America organizations of which we are a part.

For 2025, the fees charged by Scouting America National and CFC have increased by $5 per participant.  The Troop 4617 annual dues (applies only to Scouts, not adult leaders) have increased $3 to $55.  Therefore, registered Adult Leaders will pay $105 ($65 to Scouting America  National and $40 to CFC).  Scouts will pay $200 ($85 to Scouting America National, $60 to CFC, and $55 in Troop Dues).  If your Scout wishes to receive Scout Life Magazine, this is an additional $15.

IMPORTANT change regarding this weekend's event!

Posted on Aug 23 2024 - 2:46pm

IMPORTANT INFO  In accordance with YPT guidelines (we do not have an adult female leader available to camp this weekend),  this is now a DAYTIME activity (thank you to Ms. Sherman and Ms. Wood who volunteered to support the troop as leaders for the day on Saturday).

IMPORTANT meeting location change for 8/12 meeting

Good afternoon, Scouts, Scouters and families,

Welcome back!  I hope everyone has had a wonderful and exciting summer.  I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again on Monday night to hear about everyone's summer!

Popcorn Colonel Volunteer Needed!

Posted on Jul 18 2024 - 12:15am

Popcorn season is right around the corner, with initial orders already due from Troops.  At this time, we do not have a volunteer for the position of “Popcorn Colonel”.  As you might imagine, the popcorn fundraising effort in Troops 617 and 4617 takes a lot of coordination, with show-and-sell events taking place on multiple weekends.  Our Scouts have successfully used this fundraiser to earn thousands of dollars towards annual dues, campouts, and even summer camps and high adventures.  However, it is only successful due to the hard work of a parent volunteer who coordinates these efforts.  We have been blessed to have such volunteers in past years, but at this time we do not have a volunteer for this year’s popcorn sale.  If we aren’t able to identify a volunteer, we will not be able to host the weekend show-and-sell events, and our Scouts will only be able to conduct direct sales on their own.  If you are willing to serve in this role, please contact William Herrmann.
